Friday, Feb. 24 • Stephanie Nilles

February 21st, 2012

Coming up this Friday evening at the shop – Stephanie Nilles (and pals). Last time she was here, men wept like little children, women embraced their inner-vixen, and dogs spoke fluent, though heavily latin-accented, English.
She’s quite a force. You will never forgive yourself if you miss her. Friday night on our humble little stage, beginning sometime between 8 and 8:30 pm. Zonga!

Primo Frankenstrat

February 9th, 2012

Strat fans, we know you’re out there. Local builder David Everitt has assembled a spectacular example of this iconic guitar. Components include: Fender 62 reissue body, USA Custom Guitars slab board neck with soft ‘V’ profile, Kinman pickups, Callaham hardware – just a ‘best-of-the-best’ assortment of components.
If you’re not familiar with Chris Kinman or Bill Callaham and their incredible components you need to check them out.
As for how it plays/sounds, these adjectives spring to mind: creamy, effortless, sparkling, kick-ass. Absolutely spot-on intonation and feel. You don’t often find this kind of workmanship on production guitars, maybe from the Custom Shop, but not the Standards.
We’re pricing it at $1800 which includes a tweed gig bag. This is the second guitar we’ve had from David Everitt – the first was a ’52 Tele (ash, maple boat-neck, Kinmans, Callaham, etc.) that sold to a member of Railroad Earth who proclaimed it “way too good to pass up” and left town with it.

Yamaha FG 735s – Pristine…

February 8th, 2012

A scrumptious little dreadnaught from the folks at Yamaha. Sporting a solid sruce, sunburst finish. Laminate rosewood back. Great player – clean as a whistle. We’ve got it tagged at $300.

Come on in and play her…

Fresh Meat

February 7th, 2012

A bonafide, no-name, multi-ply construction, les-paulish, twin pickup, bolt-on neck, on-board speaker, vibe-out-the-wazoo, monster guitar.
It walked in. It stole our hearts. Spent a little time on the bench and now plays as it should. Currently tuned to an open chord of some description. Is crying out for someone to play it with a passion that defies logic. Active electronics include a whacked out tremolo circuit that you will fall in love with. It’s nutty. It’s cool. It can be yours before Valentine’s Day.

Newest addition at the shop: late 40′s Martin tenor uke

January 26th, 2012

Words fail (almost). Beautiful, straight grain Mahogany. Superlative rosewood fingerboard. Tortoise binding. Original tuners. Exceptional condition. One very tidy repaired crack on the back (cleated, couldn’t tell it’s there if you didn’t look inside). Super player. Come on in and play it. Tagged at $1300.

It’s blue. It rocks hard. And it wants you to come in and touch it.

January 12th, 2012

Airline Twin Tone. 2 humbuckers. 4 knobs (vol/tone for each pu). 3 way switch. Unbelievably fun to play. Come on by and discover just how much…

Washburn Close-Out Sale

December 10th, 2011

If you’re interested in a Washburn guitar, here’s what we’ve got left: 2 Dreadnaughts, 2 Parlors, 1 ES-335 style electric. We’ve also got 2 new Washburn mandolins remaining, an F-style and an A-style.

All are new and ready to go. And yes, they’re all marked down to help facilitate finding them permanent, adoptive homes to care for them. We’re open Saturday from 11am-7pm.

Get on in here and check ‘em out – they’re going quick…

Let’s move some hats…

December 7th, 2011

Through the rest of this week – all hats are 30% off.

That’s 30% less than you would’ve had to pay yesterday.

Do us and your head a favor and snag ‘em now – before Matt gets back and kicks our butts…

Hats 25% Off… New stuff in…

November 19th, 2011

The hat sale continues unabated. Still a good selection of winter and some spring/summer hats to choose from… Also, loads of new stuff in: a late 50′s Silvertone 1391 amp, used Fat Strat (hecho en Mexico), Fender Jazz Bass (likewise), Harmony H-802 twin pickup chick magnet and much more.

The Case for Cases

November 9th, 2011

Don’t leave your instrument exposed to the elements (the elements can be so unkind). Choose tweed fabric, hard-shell, gig bag, doesn’t matter, but if you love your guitar, fiddle, banjo – whatever – show it some love and keep it safe.
We’ve got you covered…
