It was a very good year…
Today’s selection is a 1956 Gibson J-45. Sublime tones are easily rendered from this fine slope-shouldered example of the heralded builder’s expertise. An iconic model from Gibson, this one wears (proudly) the evidence of previous owners’ love (in the form of pick wear around the sound hole and near the bridge). Overall though, it’s in remarkable shape, with no cracks and only the normal finish wear one would expect from a well loved, 50+ year old instrument. Replaced tuners, but otherwise all original. A true gem, $3500.
